Powder charges govern muzzle energy. Too few charges fall short; too many overshoot or waste propellant the requisition bench may not replace quickly. The in-game calculator is the final authority —use the planner to understand directional changes (more distance usually means more charge or adjusted elevation) before you touch the real dials.
When the mission spans multiple targets at different ranges, complete the loop per target rather than carrying over values. IRON NEST punishes lazy copy-paste between map markers.

Ignoring height difference —Firing at a valley floor from a ridge is not the same range problem as horizontal map distance alone. Note vertical offset when intel provides it.

Skipping verification —The planner and the mechanical calculator should agree in spirit. If they diverge wildly, re-measure the map.
